Key nutrients to monitor:

Keep pH within the stated range; nutrients become unavailable (locked out) when pH drifts even one unit outside the window. Check with a calibrated pH meter - pH pen strips are not accurate enough for hydroponics.


Step-by-step growing

  1. From seed: sow multiple seeds per plug; thin to 3–4 plants per net cup.
  2. Alternatively: place supermarket scallion stubs (roots intact) directly in shallow NFT channels.
  3. Set EC 1.4–1.8, pH 6.5.
  4. Harvest by cutting stems 3–5 cm above the white base; regrowth in 7–10 days.
  5. Replace stubs after 3–4 cycles as productivity declines.
